Ether (Equality)
Inauguration - June 28, 2023
La Seine Musicale, Île Seguin, Boulogne-Billancourt
DANAE.IO is pleased to present the first monumental artwork by sculptor Kohei Nawa, Ether (Equality), which will be permanently installed at the downstream tip of Ile Seguin, Boulogne-Billancourt
Ether (Equality) is a 25-meter-tall three-dimensional sculpture, winner of an international competition initiated by the Department of Hauts-de-Seine in 2019, and awarded to DANAE.IO in collaboration with Kohei Nawa.
Based on the theme of equality, the artwork materializes the fall of a water droplet and symbolizes the equality of all beings and things in the face of gravity. It's a true echo to the "Statue of Liberty" by Auguste Bartholdi, installed at the foot of the Grenelle Bridge in Paris.
"It is a visualization of the capture of falling drops in a solid state. A regular rhythm of circles, spheres, and slings makes up the movement. The surface is worked in facets. Placed on the ground, it seems to float on the surface, fixed to the prow of the Île Seguin, as on that of a ship of which La Seine Musicale would be the body and its sphere the sail and the standard. Visible at 360°, its aspect remains the same, whatever the angle from which it is apprehended: it is a lighthouse that guides the mind", explains Kohei Nawa.
